I’ve been the same size since I was a freshman in high school! Not that that’s necessarily a bad thing, but over the years since then I’ve gone to the gym much more religiously and tried eating healthier, and still my body stayed exactly the same. So when a good friend of mine became a personal trainer I knew it was the right time to try a new way of working out, more different than ever before. Something that would make me feel stronger than ever! That’s why I joined Benson’s.

- sprinting intervals on the treadmill for 15-20 min.
- stair stepper, elliptical, or biking for 10
- machine weights for about 30 min
- free weights for 15 min
- Abs or booty workouts for another 10
That workout routine kept me in shape…it kept me slim, but it didn’t make me stronger. My body got used to the same routine day after day! I didn’t even know what to change about it because I didn’t know what other exercises to do! Even if I did see other workouts online or by watching other people, I didn’t know the correct way to do it, so I never bothered.
New Workout Routine:
There isn’t one!
Well not that specific anyway. Monday, Wednesday, and Friday is basically all lifting! And real lifting! I finally know what a deadlift is! I know how to properly squat and I’m even learning how to power clean! I’m doing stuff that actually pushes me and challenges me and I have someone there every step of the way correcting me and helping me push myself even further.
On Tuesdays we do circuit training! These are fun because I get to do them with other girls at the gym, we all get to experience the pain and misery together. But these are the days that really suck! I never know what we’re going to be doing, and I never feel prepared because they always kick my butt.
But my favorite day of the week is Thursday, when we do a boxing circuit. It’s so challenging but fun and rewarding at the same time! Boxing mixes cardio and strength and uses every part of your body. It makes me feel strong and empowered. I don’t even realize how tiring it is until I’m done, because during the exercise I’m so focused on the combinations and getting the punches right.
I’m still in the beginning stages of this new workout routine but so far I love it! It’s worth every cent to know that I’m bettering myself and my body. Working out has truly become my favorite part of the day and I can thank Benson’s for that!
Maybe I’m the only one who feels this way, but working out is so much easier if I’m wearing cute workout clothes! I feel way more confident than just wearing an old soccer t-shirt and it makes me proud to show off the body I’m working so hard for.
