Riding in a hot air balloon has always been on my bucket list! I thought it would be fun, kinda cool, maybe scary, but nothing prepared me for what it was actually like: UNREAL!
Katy and I woke up around 3:30 AM on a Sunday, drove through the foggy hills to Custer, and took off in a hot air balloon at sunrise! It wasn’t scary at all (despite the fact that I’m normally scared of heights) and it was nothing short of incredible! We became close (literally) friends with the 8 other people riding with us in the small wicker basket. So close in fact, that we all went to breakfast afterwards! Only in the Black Hills can you be in close quarters with 8 other strangers and walk away laughing while sharing the best memories.
The staff of Black Hills Balloons was kind, informative, and hilarious throughout the entire journey! They even helped us score a table at Skogen, the cutest little breakfast spot in downtown Custer. For a small town, that place is poppin’ and I’m so glad we were able to try it out!
But really, I wish I could describe in words how perfect our hot air balloon experience was. Go check out the short video I made showing the postcard worthy sites we were able to see that morning: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NWWT2QkMl8s&t=63s
Thank you to my friend Katy for inviting me to share this experience with her, and to Black Hills Balloons for being the best in the biz!
Until next time,
